The Department of Health and Human Services has advised RWAV that we were successful with our submission to administer its rural general practice workforce programs including the Rural Generalist and the Rural Extended and Advanced Procedural Skills programs.
GP – Rural Generalist Training
This program offers a facilitated and supported pathway from the intern year to qualification in general practice and fellowship. Funding is available to support procedural skills training in disciplines such as obstetrics, anaesthetics, surgery and emergency medicine.
Advanced and Extended Skills Program for GPs
This program provides funding to support procedural skills training for GPs and registrars not on the Rural Generalist Pathway and supports skills development for GPs in areas such as adolescent health, small town GP, Aboriginal health, alpine medicine, obstetrics, emergency medicine and geriatrics.
RWAV will provide further information on these programs in the coming months.
