RWAV remains committed to improving rural healthcare by delivering tailored recruitment services, providing continuous support, and ensuring that health professionals not only find opportunities but thrive in their roles, contributing to the wellbeing of Victoria’s rural and regional communities.
RWAV is actively addressing workforce shortages in rural and regional Victoria, particularly the demand for permanent GPs. In 2023–24, our recruitment initiatives placed 29 doctors in ongoing roles—a 66% increase from the previous year. Notably, 60% were placed in MMM 4+ towns, reinforcing our commitment to underserved areas.
Beyond recruitment, RWAV provides ongoing support to healthcare professionals, ensuring they thrive in their roles. In collaboration with key stakeholders like PHNs, we assisted 109 primary care services, placing 35 health professionals—31 in priority towns identified through RWAV’s Health Workforce Needs Assessment.
Dr. Leo Gnanaraj, General Practitioner at Mallee District Aboriginal Health in Swan Hill, shares his experience:
“When I first started researching about opportunities in Australia, I reached out to RWAV and got a prompt reply from Kas & Ben. Kas & Ben arranged a call to discuss my expectations and gave lot of great insight during the conversation. Kas came back with opportunities that match my needs and was there throughout the whole process, from the initial interview to finalizing the job offer. Ben guided us with some of the visa questions and all through the process, I felt I was in great hands. Thank you RWAV for all that you did for me”
