On 28 March 2023, a group of healthcare professionals, local council, community members, and organisations gathered at the Nhill Community Centre for a half-day workshop called the Nhill Service Access Round Table. The main focus of the event was to discuss workforce needs and solutions for Nhill and the surrounding areas.
Facilitated by Lauren Cordwell and Kate Temby from the Rural Workforce Agency Victoria (RWAV), attendees included the Hindmarsh Shire Council, West Wimmera Health Service, Rural Doctors Association of Victoria – RDAV Rural Doctors Nhill , Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia, local pharmacy, community representatives, and RWAV.
The group came together with a spirit of collaboration and a shared goal of identifying issues and exploring innovative ideas to attract and retain doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals, along with their families. There was great enthusiasm for working together to find solutions
