The Future Workforce program works with secondary school and university students to raise awareness of rural health careers, assists with rural placements for university students, and provides grants and bursaries to facilitate access to university entrance exams and clinical placements.
Rural Health Careers
Join a workforce with a strong community connection focused on making a difference and enjoy the balanced lifestyle a rural setting offers. Healthcare is Australiaâs largest employing industry. A third of the workforce is based in rural/regional areas.
Rural Ambassador Program
The Rural Ambassador Program aims to raise awareness of the exciting opportunities available in rural healthcare to rural and regional secondary and tertiary students. Ambassadors are enthusiastic about rural and regional health and keen to engage with young people and assist with their career pathways by sharing theirs.
Rural Health Clubs
Joining a rural health student club is a great way to meet other like-minded students, build networks and learn more about the industry. There are 28 university clubs across Australia with over 9,000 members.
Bonded Medical Students
The Bonded Medical Program provides students a Commonwealth Supported Place in a medical course at an Australian university in return for a commitment to work in eligible regional, rural and remote areas for a specified period after completion of their course.
