RWAV are the fund holders for nine outreach programs and facilitate 401 outreach services to rural, regional and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities across the Primary Health Network of Gippsland, Western Victoria, Murray, North West Metro, South East Metro and East Metro.
The programs are all Commonwealth Department of Health funded and include:
- Rural Health Outreach Fund
- Medical Outreach Indigenous Chronic Disease Program
- Healthy Ears Better Listening Better Hearing Program
- Visiting Optometry Scheme
- Indigenous Eye and Ear Surgical Support Program
- Indigenous Eye Health Coordination
- Ear Health Coordination
- Ear and Hearing Follow-up Services
- Expansion of Pain Management Services
These programs work within health priorities that increase access to maternal and paediatric, mental health, chronic disease management, ear and eye health care, and pain management for these communities.
The majority of programs provide funding to cover out of pocket expenses to support health professionals relating to travel and associated costs of providing these vital health care services. The Indigenous Eye and Ear Surgical Support Program extending funding to the patients and carers.
