Since November 2018, the Australian Health Industry Group (AHIG) has operated the Boort Medical Clinic as part of an agreement with Boort District Health (BDH). The partnership between AHIG and BDH has allowed for the only medical clinic in Boort to remain open.
When the opportunity arose at Boort Medical Clinic, RWAV contacted Michael Rogers from AHIG. RWAV has worked with AHIG for a number of years supporting their clinics in towns such as Timboon, Winchelsea, Cobden and Sandringham. Coincidentally, Mr. Rogers had a connection to the area, having grown up in the nearby town St Arnaud, and been part of the Boort football team.
The agreement will take place until June 2019, with the aim of sourcing a longer-term option. Currently RWAV has placed a locum doctor in the clinic over December, and more locum general practitioners are being sought for the New Year. RWAV will also be providing Boort Medical Centre with a locum subsidy grant, which will help the clinic with its operational and sustainability costs.
