We are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Grant Phelps as the new Chair of the RWAV Board.
Professor Phelps brings over two decades of experience in rural and regional healthcare as a physician and gastroenterologist, complemented by extensive leadership expertise in clinical quality and engagement.
Professor Phelpsâs distinguished career includes senior roles in government, focusing on clinical engagement, clinical leadership, and care quality. An academic leader, he holds a professorial appointment with Deakin University Medical School. He also consults to healthcare organisations and trains boards and executives.
An accomplished and qualified board director, Professor Phelps is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has served in governance roles, including a number across the not-for-profit sector, such as the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Avant Foundation, Hepatitis Australia and 13th Beach Golf Links Limited.
As the former RWAV Deputy Board Chair, Professor Phelps has chaired the Strategy, Policy, and Stakeholder Engagement Committee and has contributed as a member of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee since 2019.
