On Wednesday 2 December, RWAV hosted the first panel discussion in a series, discussing the rural health workforce priorities for 2021.
Our first guest was the National Rural Health Commissioner, Adjunct Professor Ruth Stewart. Professor Stewart was joined by Sandy Chamberlin, CEO of Great Ocean Road Health, Harley Hayes, OT from Everyday Independence Bendigo and recent Rising Star Award recipient of the 2002 Victorian Rural Health Awards and Associate Professor Morton Rawlin, Chair of the RWAV Board.
The event was a great opportunity to unpack some of the workforce challenges facing rural and remote health services, and how these might be addressed. Topics included the lessons learnt from COVID-19, new innovative models for primary care, issues around sourcing appropriate accommodation for health professionals, maternity services and much more.
